Auto-updation of on-call SOPs
13 days ago by Siddarth Jain
Consider an alert's thread in a Slack channel where a senior engineer adds a few comments on how the on-call engineer could debug the issue or adds link to a relevant dashboard / document.
In an ideal world, you'd expect either the on-call engineer or the service owner to go back and update the documents -- hopefully sooner than later.
BUT, we also know that outdated documents are real -- it's a natural challenge across teams:
- Things evolve too fast
- A lot of context is shared in adhoc communication
- Writing documentation is boring
We are now introducing continuous updation of documents from existing investigations and context.
Here's how it works:
- Bot tracks the conversation within the thread of an alert (only where the bot is tagged atleast once in the thread or if the bot has run an investigation).
- It gives suggestion to update the documents. (Auto-updation suggestions for Slack coming up soon)
