Appendix

If you have done Slack, you are good-to-go. If not, then you can create your first playbook with the following steps

Step 3: Create Your First Playbook

1. Open the Playbook Editor

In the dashboard, click on "Create Playbook" to start building your sequence.

2. Add Actions to Your Playbook

Construct your playbook by adding steps that include querying databases, searching logs, or checking monitoring metrics.

  1. Save the Playbook

Step 4: Define inputs and outputs:

1. Choose Your Trigger Method

Decide if you want to trigger the run of this playbook via Slack or an alert trigger from Datadog, PagerDuty, AWS alerts, Grafana AlertManager or a custom webhook.

2. Configure Notification Settings

In the "Notifications" section of your playbook editor, you can decide the outputs for an auto-trigger. Following are the automated notifications currently:

  • Directly back into Datadog as an event into the monitor
  • As a response in your slack message that triggered the playbook
  • As a response in your PagerDuty that triggered this playbook

3. Test Your Playbook

Execute a test run of your playbook to confirm that everything works as expected and that you correctly receive the output notification.

By following these steps, you're now well on your way to leveraging Doctor Droid to its full potential, automating tasks, and focusing on higher-value work. Dive deeper into our documentation to explore advanced features and best practices for maximizing your efficiency with Doctor Droid.
